For the third year, Ukraine has been heroically resisting Russian aggression, defending its independence. In this crucial moment, the CEPCS emphasizes that prayer and fasting are not only a way to strengthen faith but also a true spiritual weapon that helps to withstand difficulties.
“Prayer has the power to change the situation, strengthen the spirit and bring God’s support in the most difficult times,” the Council’s statement said.
In order to consolidate the national spiritual front, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine decided to annually celebrate the National Day of Prayer on February 24.
The CEPCS asks all churches and believers to join the initiative and actively support it in their communities. In particular, it is proposed:
- Declare February 24 as a Day of Fasting and Prayer for all Christian communities.
- Organize prayer meetings at the level of churches, cities and communities.
- Hold divine services with an emphasis on prayer for Ukraine and honoring the fallen heroes.
- Join the nationwide initiative of fasting and prayer, promoting its dissemination.
The CEPCS believes that spiritual unity will become a powerful support for the entire country.
“When we are united in faith, prayer and actions – God gives us the strength to overcome. Our common prayer will become a spiritual support for the entire Ukrainian people,” the statement said.
Support of spiritual leaders
The initiative was supported by the chairman of the Council of Evangelical Protestant Churches of Ukraine, Senior Bishop of the Ukrainian Evangelical Church Oleksandr Zaitsev. He stressed the importance of unity in prayer and called on all believers to actively spread this initiative.
The CEPCS invites all Ukrainians to take part in the Day of Fasting and Prayer on February 24, to together ask the Lord for victory, peace and spiritual renewal of Ukraine.
