Russian Attack Damages Kyiv Theological Seminary as Missile Strike Injures Civilians in Ukraine’s Capital

During a large-scale overnight Russian missile and drone attack on July 11, the campus of Kyiv Theological Seminary was damaged by the blast wave in Ukraine’s capital. Residential buildings, offices, and the Christian educational institution sustained damage, while at least 11 people were reported injured.

Seminary Damaged by Blast Wave

According to Ruslan Khmyz, rector of Kyiv Theological Seminary, the explosion severely damaged the seminary campus. Most of the damage was to the windows, many of which were shattered, while additional structural damage is still being assessed.

“As a result of the blast wave, the campus of Kyiv Theological Seminary sustained damage. The windows suffered the most, with many of them completely shattered. There is additional damage that we are still assessing.

We sincerely thank God that none of our students, staff members, or neighbors were injured. Praise God!

Please pray for God’s protection over Ukraine and for everyone affected by tonight’s attack. We also ask for prayer that we may be able to restore the damaged buildings as quickly as possible.

Thank you to everyone who continues to pray, support us, and stand with us during this time.”

At Least 11 People Injured in Kyiv

The attack was reported by Kyiv City Military Administration chief Tymur Tkachenko, who said Russia launched ballistic missiles at the capital. Explosions were heard even before the air raid alert was officially announced.

According to the National Police of Ukraine, at least 11 people were injured during the overnight strike.

Zelenskyy: Russia Launched More Than 120 Drones and 12 Missiles

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia attacked Ukraine overnight with more than 120 strike drones and 12 missiles, including six ballistic missiles.

He noted that Ukrainian air defenses intercepted the majority of the aerial targets, but the ballistic missiles could not be shot down.

According to the president, residential buildings, office facilities, and Kyiv Theological Seminary were among the sites damaged in the capital. Emergency crews also continued responding to the aftermath of attacks in the Odesa, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv regions.

Zelenskyy urged Ukraine’s international partners to fulfill previously announced commitments to strengthen the country’s air defense capabilities.

“We expect our partners to deliver on the support packages agreed upon during the NATO meeting to better protect our people,” the president said.

Christian Institutions Continue Serving Despite the War

The latest Russian strike once again demonstrates that attacks continue to affect not only residential neighborhoods but also educational institutions, including Christian schools and seminaries that continue their ministry despite the ongoing war.
