Russian Forces Expel Residents and Seize Homes in Occupied Kherson Region

In the temporarily occupied village of Dudchyne in Ukraine’s Kherson region, Russian troops are forcibly expelling residents from their homes, issuing threats, and taking over private properties for military use. These actions were reported by Atesh, a Ukrainian–Crimean Tatar resistance movement.

Russian Troops Forcibly Remove Civilians Without Explanation

According to Atesh agents, units of Russia’s 227th Artillery Brigade are carrying out forced evictions without any explanation or offer of alternative housing. Civilians are not permitted to take their personal belongings, and once expelled, they are not allowed to return to their own homes.

Russian soldiers then occupy the seized houses and use the property for their own needs. Cases of looting have also been documented. Complaints from residents or attempts to regain access to their homes are ignored by the occupying forces.

Clear Violation of International Humanitarian Law

These actions represent yet another example of Russia’s systematic violations of international humanitarian law, including the prohibition against forcibly displacing civilians and the unlawful seizure of private property.
