The choice of the date is not accidental: February 24 is the anniversary of the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The National Day of Prayer will be an opportunity for Ukrainians to remember the indomitable spirit, unity and faith that have become the key to resisting aggression.

Features of the celebration

A number of state-level events are planned for this day. Sessions of the Verkhovna Rada on the National Day of Prayer will begin with the performance of the national anthem of Ukraine, “God is Great, One.”

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine is to develop a comprehensive action plan with the participation of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations within three months of the resolution’s adoption. At the same time, the regional and Kyiv city state administrations were instructed to ensure the preparation and implementation of relevant activities on the ground.

The introduction of the National Day of Prayer should help strengthen the patriotic spirit, consolidate Ukrainian society, and preserve the spiritual heritage. It is a symbolic step that unites people in prayer for victory, peace and the restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity.
