In January 2025, 139 Ukrainians were killed and more than 700 wounded – the largest number of victims were caused by drones

In January 2025, at least 139 civilians were killed and 738 others were injured as a result of hostilities in Ukraine. This was reported by the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine.
According to the mission, the largest number of victims was caused by short-range drones, in particular drones with a first-person view, which proved to be more dangerous than any other weapon used during this period.
Overall, since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, 12,605 civilians have been killed and another 29,178 have been injured of varying severity.
On January 8, Russian forces conducted an air strike on an industrial facility in Zaporizhzhia. The attack killed 14 civilians (9 men and 5 women) and injured 115 others (59 men, 55 women and one girl). This is one of the deadliest attacks on civilians since the beginning of the invasion in 2022.
On January 15, a large-scale coordinated attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure was recorded. The shelling resulted in emergency power outages in seven regions of the country, as well as significant damage to residential buildings and property.
These tragic data once again confirm the cruelty of Russian aggression, which takes lives of civilian Ukrainians every day. Ukraine counts on the continued support of the international community in the fight for freedom, security and justice.
