The Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations (UCCRO) has issued a public statement following another massive overnight missile and drone attack by Russia on November 29.
Church leaders condemned the ongoing terror against civilians and urged the international community to strengthen defensive support for Ukraine in order to achieve a just and lasting peace.

Russia Launches Another Large-Scale Strike Against Ukrainian Cities

During the night of November 29, Russia carried out a wide-ranging strike on Kyiv, towns across the Kyiv region, and several other areas of Ukraine using missiles and drones. The attack destroyed residential buildings, energy infrastructure, and other civilian facilities. Civilians were killed and injured.

UCCRO emphasized that this assault is yet another episode in Russia’s ongoing campaign of systematic terror against Ukrainian cities — including Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Odesa, Ternopil and others — where dozens of civilians have been killed in recent weeks and social facilities destroyed.

Russia Continues Terror, Relying on the Weak Response of the International Community

In its statement, UCCRO warns that Russia is emboldened by the insufficient response of democratic nations and by the influence of pro-Kremlin lobbyists within NATO and EU countries.
This inaction enables Russia to continue systematic terror against Ukrainian civilians.

Church leaders caution:

If the aggressor is not stopped now, the next targets of the Kremlin may be the countries of Northern and Central-Eastern Europe.

They note that all attempts to appease Russia, trade with it, or tolerate its policies lead not to peace, but to further escalation of evil.

“Russia Is a Terrorist State” — UCCRO Position

The statement underscores that Russia’s actions clearly demonstrate its status as a terrorist state.
It also highlights that Russian citizens who support the war and killings bear moral and international responsibility as accomplices to crimes against humanity.

UCCRO calls on church bodies and interfaith institutions worldwide to actively condemn Russian crimes and to resist Kremlin disinformation on the global stage.

Call to International Partners: More Air Defense and Stronger Pressure on Russia

The Council of Churches appeals to democratic nations to:

  • strengthen Ukraine’s defensive capabilities;

  • provide additional air-defense systems;

  • increase sanctions and political pressure on Russia;

  • contribute to ending the aggression and establishing a just, sustainable peace.

Gratitude to Global Religious Leaders

On behalf of Ukrainian churches, UCCRO expressed deep gratitude to religious leaders, politicians, and people of goodwill around the world for their solidarity, advocacy, and prayers for the end of Russian aggression.
