Speaker of the US House of Representatives Mike Johnson announces lack of support for new funding for Ukraine

Mike Johnson, Speaker of the US House of Representatives, expressed skepticism about the adoption of a new aid package for Ukraine. During his speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington, he said that there is currently no political will to further fund the Ukrainian resistance.
This was reported by Ukrinform.
Audience reaction and Johnson’s position
When the host asked whether there was a possibility of supporting a new bill on Ukraine, Johnson replied:
“Look, there is no appetite for that.”
His words caused a wave of support among the audience, who shouted in unison: “No!”
Statements on the need to end the war
Despite his refusal to provide further financial support, Johnson emphasized that the situation in Ukraine must be resolved. According to him, European partners also understand the need to find ways to end the war.
“President Trump is absolutely right, it’s time to end this,” Johnson said, hinting that the current head of the White House has the ability to influence the situation.
Context of the situation
This statement by the Speaker of the House of Representatives is a continuation of the trend of declining support for Ukraine among some American politicians. Earlier, Johnson emphasized that he no longer wanted to fund Kyiv, which caused a mixed reaction among US allies.
Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump made another controversial statement, calling Volodymyr Zelenskyy a “dictator” for his decision not to hold elections during the war. The Ukrainian president responded by saying that Trump was a victim of Russian propaganda.
A similar opinion was expressed by former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who emphasized that Zelenskyy’s rating remains high and is approaching Trump’s own popularity in the United States, which refutes the allegations of allegedly low confidence in the Ukrainian leader.
