Massive night attack by Russia: over 440 drones and 32 missiles fired at Ukraine, numerous casualties reported

On the night of June 17, Russia carried out one of the largest attacks on Ukrainian territory, launching more than 440 strike drones and 32 missiles of various types. Nine regions came under enemy fire, including Kyiv, Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, Chernihiv, Zhytomyr, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, and Kyiv.

According to preliminary information, at least 15 people were killed and 114 were injured as a result of the strikes. Of these, 68 were hospitalized. Destruction and casualties were reported in dozens of settlements. In the capital, 27 locations in different districts were affected, including residential buildings, kindergartens, educational institutions, and critical infrastructure facilities.
The Solomyanskyi and Darnytskyi districts of Kyiv were the most affected.
In the Solomyanskyi district, a rocket hit a nine-story residential building — one entrance was completely destroyed, and there is a threat of structural collapse. People may remain under the rubble. Eight cars were destroyed, and four more were engulfed in flames. A five-story building and a service station also burned.
In the Darnytskyi district, rocket debris caused a fire: a building was damaged, windows were broken in one of the children’s institutions, and the upper floors of a residential building were partially destroyed. Three civilians were killed here.
Fires also broke out in the Shevchenkivskyi district on the upper floors of a building and in a non-residential premises. Damage was recorded in the Dnipro, Podil, Obolon, and Sviatoshyn districts.
Day of mourning in Kyiv
Due to the scale of the tragedy, June 18 was declared a day of mourning in the capital. A total of 296 rescuers and 75 units of equipment from the State Emergency Service were involved in dealing with the aftermath of the attack.
Odessa also under fire: city center destroyed
Odessa was also targeted by enemy drones. The shock wave destroyed residential buildings in the historic city center, a kindergarten, and an inclusive center. The city’s infectious diseases hospital, one of the oldest medical institutions in the city, also suffered significant damage.
According to preliminary data, at least 17 people were injured in Odessa, including a pregnant woman and a 17-year-old girl. A 60-year-old woman died from her injuries.
Search and rescue operations are currently underway. The authorized services are documenting yet another war crime committed by the Russian military against the civilian population.
