Massive attack by Russia: over 50 missiles and 500 drones hit Ukraine — there are dead and wounded

On the night of October 5, Russia launched one of its largest combined strikes on Ukraine, firing more than 50 missiles of various types and about 500 strike drones, including Shahed drones, cruise missiles, and hypersonic Kinzhal missiles.

This was reported by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

“Last night, Ukraine was again under a combined Russian attack — more than 50 missiles and about 500 strike drones. They struck with cruise missiles, Shahed drones, and Kinzhal missiles,” the head of state said.

The regions of Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zaporizhzhia, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, Odesa, and Kirovohrad came under heavy fire.

At least 10 people were wounded and five were killed.

Rescue and restoration work is continuing at the sites of the strikes. The president said he was receiving regular reports from regional leaders, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development, and Naftogaz.

“I expect the government to work as quickly and efficiently as possible to eliminate the consequences in the affected regions,” Zelensky emphasized.

He also stressed the need for the swift implementation of international agreements on strengthening Ukraine’s air defense system.

“A unilateral ceasefire in the sky is possible, and it is precisely this that can pave the way for real diplomacy. America and Europe must act to force Putin to stop,” the president added.

Strike on Lviv region

The head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, Maksym Kozytskyi, reported that two people were killed and two others wounded as a result of the combined attack.

“All relevant services are working on site. Eternal memory to the victims and condolences to their families,” Kozytskyi said.

Lviv was attacked with Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles and a large number of drones. A series of powerful explosions were heard in the city.

Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, and other regions

In Zaporizhzhia, the enemy targeted residential buildings. The city suffered power and water outages, and there are casualties.

In the Sumy region, new strikes on civilian targets were recorded, including in Shostka, which had already suffered from a Russian attack the day before.

The massive night shelling once again confirms that Russia continues to terrorize the civilian population. Ukraine calls on its international partners to increase the supply of air defense systems to stop Russian crimes.
