Indirect losses of Ukraine from the war exceed a trillion dollars – KSE report

Since the beginning of the great war, Ukraine’s economy has suffered indirect losses estimated at more than a trillion dollars. According to the Kyiv School of Economics (KSE), together with the Ministry of Infrastructure, other relevant ministries and the NBU, the total amount of indirect losses is $1.164 trillion.

This includes current and projected losses in revenue and value added, which amount to $385.7 billion. The largest losses were in the services, trade, industry, and construction sectors.

Impact on the housing sector

The indirect losses of the housing sector are estimated at $7.7 billion, and its recovery continues to put significant pressure on the economy.

“The numbers are a little scary – more than a trillion dollars in revenue and almost $400 billion in value added,” comments Dmytro Goryunov, co-chair of the project to calculate Ukraine’s losses from the war at KSE.
