The prayer breakfast began with a minute of silence and a tribute to the memory of the fallen defenders. The National Anthem of Ukraine was performed by the brass band of the 44th separate artillery brigade named after Hetman Danylo Apostol.
Addressing the audience, Ternopil Mayor Serhiy Nadal emphasized the importance of spiritual unity in times of war.
“Trusting God is not just a word, it is a special way of life that allows us to preserve humanity and dignity even in the darkest times,” he said.
According to him, Ternopil has always had deep Christian roots, and the prayer breakfast is a continuation of the tradition of turning to God in times of trial.
The participants prayed for Ukraine, victory and a just peace in unity, asking the Lord for blessings for the country, forgiveness of sins, wisdom for the leadership and strength for the defenders. In his speech, Pavlo Zhurba, deputy head of the Ternopil Regional Military Administration, compared the current state of the country to a “protracted Holy Week” that has been going on since 2014. However, he emphasized, after suffering always comes the Bright Resurrection – and the Ukrainian people believe in the bright day of Victory.
Despite the informal nature of the event, its spiritual significance cannot be overestimated. It was a time of unity, mutual support, and uplifting spirit. The joint prayer became a source of inspiration and hope, confirming that faith and prayer are what strengthen the heart of a nation in times of great trial.
