An explosion destroyed the home of a chaplain’s family in Zhytomyr region: his wife is in hospital, their property and car have been destroyed.

On the evening of July 2, a powerful explosion occurred in the village of Berezyna, Zhytomyr region, causing extensive damage. Among those affected was the family of chaplain Igor Mordalevich from the Compass Evangelical Church. Their house was completely burned down, and their farm buildings and private car were destroyed. The chaplain’s minibus, which Igor regularly used to visit soldiers on the front lines, was also damaged.
At the time of the explosion, Igor’s wife, Tetyana Mordalevich, was in the house. She was injured and is currently being treated in the hospital. The family is in dire need of help.
According to official information, the explosions occurred at around 6 p.m. at an industrial facility. No air raid siren was sounded. According to Serhiy Sokalsky, head of the Hlybochytska community, two production facilities were destroyed, three power lines were damaged, and 735 houses were left without electricity.
Vitaliy Bunechko, head of the Zhytomyr Regional State Administration, reported that two people were killed in the explosions and 24 others were injured, including four children. Approximately 25 residential buildings were completely destroyed. An operational headquarters is working at the scene, and people are being provided with temporary housing in communal facilities.
The causes of the explosion are currently being investigated. Meanwhile, the church community is calling for prayer and support for the Mordalevich family, who have lost everything except their hope in God.
