Ukraine and the US agree on steps to peace during talks in Jeddah

Main agreements of the meeting

The Ukrainian delegation expressed gratitude to U.S. President Donald Trump, the Congress and the American people for their support. The parties agreed that now is the time for active efforts towards a peaceful settlement of the war.

The key decision was Ukraine’s agreement to a temporary ceasefire for 30 days, which can be extended by mutual agreement. At the same time, Kyiv insists that this regime will come into force only if the Russian Federation simultaneously makes a similar decision. The United States will convey this position to Moscow and emphasize that mutual commitments are a prerequisite for further peace initiatives.

In addition, Washington has decided to resume the suspended supply of military aid to Ukraine and intelligence sharing, which will allow Ukrainian forces to respond more effectively to threats.

Humanitarian issues and future negotiations

The humanitarian aspects of a possible ceasefire were discussed separately, including the exchange of prisoners of war, the release of illegally detained civilians, and the return of deported Ukrainian children.

The two delegations agreed to set up negotiating teams to immediately begin work on the details of a potential peaceful settlement. The Ukrainian side emphasized the importance of involving European partners in this process.

Cooperation in the economic sphere

In the final part of the talks, the parties agreed to conclude an agreement on the development of Ukraine’s critical mineral resources as soon as possible. This should strengthen the country’s economic potential and ensure its long-term security.

Thus, the meeting in Jeddah was another step towards establishing an international dialogue and finding ways to end the war while preserving Ukraine’s interests and sovereignty.
