According to the study “Ukrainians during the war: pride, memory, victory” conducted by the Institute of Social and Political Psychology of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine in cooperation with the Association of Political Psychologists, more than 80% of respondents believe that the mental health of their friends and relatives has deteriorated significantly. Only 10.7% of respondents did not notice such changes in their environment.
The study showed that residents of the southern regions of Ukraine are more concerned about this issue, with almost 90% of respondents noticing a deterioration. In the eastern regions, this figure is slightly lower – 75.2%.
A quarter of respondents (25.1%) believe that mental health care is not a priority during the war. However, the majority (64%) disagree. Among young people aged 18 to 29, 72% support the importance of supporting mental health, even in times of war, while among older people (56 and older), this figure is 57.4%.
The public pays special attention to the psychological state of military personnel. More than half of the respondents (51.7%) fully support and almost 35% partially agree that all military personnel who participated in combat operations need specialized psychological assistance.
